Plump the “Punim” with PRP

So anyone who knows me knows I’m intrigued by anything #beauty related , any new treatments , products etc . In other words a self proclaimed “gimme G” . Well I’ve been hearing about this #prp otherwise known as the #vampire #facial for a while now , and you know eventually I had to see what the #hype was all about .BTW “Punim” means face in Yiddish . Just in case you were wondering . #themoreyouknow

I first heard about PRP that ONE TIME I checked Kim Ks Instagram. Really it was only one time 😜.

So what is a PRP Facial ? #refinery29 gives a great description:

”The vampire facial, also known as the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) facial, includes drawing blood from your arm, separating the platelets, and then injecting them into your skin via microneedling. The doctor runs the needle pen over your face while squirting the platelets into the mini injection holes. Since the platelets are high in growth hormone, and the microneedling stimulates the skin to regenerate, the entire procedure is meant to aid cell turnover. And it's damn bloody work — that's for sure. The results are meant to mimic a face-lift, but with zero downtime. In fact, all of the accounts I read from people who had undergone the procedure suggested I'd be up and at 'em the following day.”

Now I will walk you through the process . It’s not for the faint of heart ! I don’t know if I’d go as far as to say it can take the place of a face lift, but I did love the results .

First a nurse or doctor take vials of blood from your arm . The number of vials taken, depend on how much PRP you want . Many extend the PRP from the face, to the chest and hands . It’s VERY IMPORTANT that a licensed medical practitioner takes your blood and that they use a fresh needle . If you think you can get a PRP facial in a nail salon NO, just NO !

This is why:

The microneedling process does not tickle which is why they use a numbing cream prior to the process , while spinning the blood to separate the platelets. YIKES!

After the #microneedling while infusing your #platelets into the skin , the practitioner cleans up your face and applies a specialized face mask to calm the skin down . (At least mine did) . After the 24kt infused mask my skin felt great !

It’s hard to tell from a picture but my face feels as smooth as a baby’s tushy ! The below selfie was taken minutes after I was done with the facial .

A little redness and tingling to be expected . I have had microneedling before without the plasma so I knew what to expect . Since everyone ‘s skin is different the recovery may take a few days longer than it did for me .

Below link chronicles the experience of a writer from Refinery 29 who's recovery was a bit more difficult than mine. Ultimately, she was happy with the results. Just want my readers to know what to expect!

Mind you I do have sensitive skin. You can expect dryness on the first day. My aesthetician gave me a cream mixed with the remaining plasma which actually soothes the area treated.

I have had two PRP facials and am happy with the results .

No filter and glowing . Not too shabby for a 51 year old .The bad news is I’m going to need a second job to pay for my habit , cuz I might be #addicted to this treatment. #vampirefacial #girlproblems #thestruggleisreal @tribecamed thanks for staying late for me ! Uva is great !

Not only did she stay late to accommodate my schedule, she took her time to explain the entire process and what to expect afterwards. This included showing me her book of before and after pictures. Quite remarkable! I highly recommend Tribeca Medaesthetics especially since it is owned by a board certified Plastic Surgeon, Jason Shapiro who treats patients and oversees the practice. #notsponsored
